Children and Hypnosis

I have had the pleasure of helping so many kids with the use of hypnosis. This definitely puts a smile on my face!

It is well established that children can benefit from therapeutic hypnosis, meditation as much as adults. Children are highly susceptible to hypnosis due to their rich imagination, flexible and unbiased attitude towards visualization exercises. Changes usually occur faster in children and they are long lasting, or permanent.

The parents' support throughout the intervention is vital to achieving the expected results. We work towards the child's benefit, not the parents'.

Some of the issues that children bring to us are:
  • Study habits
  • Bed wetting
  • Classroom anxiety
  • Public speaking
  • Stuttering
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Eating habits
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Low self-confidence
  • Trust
  • Bullying or being bullied
  • Siblings tensions
  • Nail biting
  • Fear of dogs (fear of anything)
  • Insomnia (getting to sleep and not being able to get back to sleep in the middle of the night)

Children usually see us between 2 and 5 sessions, sometimes more depending on the child and what we are working on. The earliest age a child can experience therapeutic hypnosis is as young as three years old.

I welcome parents in the room during the initial interview. I then have the parent leave the room for the hypnosis session. This gives the child a sense of privacy where he/she will be able to relax more deeply. The children appreciate it when the parents give the children the space and privacy to express their own views and opinions one-on-one.
